Neurofeedback is not a treatment for autism and is not intended to change autistic neurology. What it may help support is self-regulation: the brain’s capacity to manage arousal, process sensory input without overwhelm, shift between activated and calm states, and recover after overload. For many autistic adults, these regulatory challenges — rather than autism itself — are what makes daily functioning harder. Training targets that layer specifically. Results vary by individual, and any responsible provider will be honest with you about realistic expectations.
