If you’ve ever struggled with depression, you know how it can strip away even the simplest joys and routines of life. For Ruby, a 22-year-old college student, this reality hit hard.

The weight of her depression became so overwhelming that even basic tasks like brushing her teeth felt impossible. With each passing day, the lack of motivation suffocated her energy and ambition, threatening her academic life and daily functioning.

Desperate for relief and yearning to get back to the life she once knew, Ruby reached out to Grey Matters Brain Training Studio, hoping for a way to break free from the hold her depression had on her.

The Beginning of Ruby’s Healing Journey

Ruby’s journey started with a qEEG brain map to assess how her brain was functioning and to better understand the root causes of her symptoms. The results were clear—her brain showed universal slowing across all waves, and the Brodmann area 13, known for affecting motivation and self-esteem, was also impacted. This combination explained her intense lack of drive, low mood, and the suffocating hold depression had on her.

With this information in hand, we tailored an intervention plan specifically for Ruby. She began on an Infraslow Frequency protocol aimed at treating her depression. Later, a second protocol was added to stabilize her mood and calm her mind, providing a more holistic approach to her healing.

Life-Changing Outcomes

As Ruby committed to her brain training, the changes began to appear.

Feeling Lighter, Less Depressed

The primary reason Ruby sought out Grey Matters was to relieve her depression, and with consistent training, the heavy fog began to lift. She noticed the weight of her depression fading, and for the first time in a long while, she reported feeling great—a stark contrast to where she had started.

Managing Stress with Ease

While stress management wasn’t her initial focus, Ruby began to see improvements in how she handled life’s challenges. Stressful situations at work no longer triggered overwhelming anxiety. Instead, she stayed calm and collected, no longer spiraling into worry when things didn’t go as planned.

Finding Motivation Again

One of Ruby’s most remarkable changes was regaining her motivation. What once felt impossible—like brushing her teeth or folding laundry—became manageable. After a few weeks of training, Ruby found herself capable of taking on more responsibilities. She went from struggling with basic hygiene to holding down a remote job, consistently showing up for herself and her employer daily.

A Story of Strength and Renewal

Ruby’s story is a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, change is possible. Through neurofeedback, she was able to lift the veil of depression, regain her motivation, and face life with renewed energy.
